Sylvia Watts McKinney is a mission-driven and creative leader committed to innovative programs and services that lift children and families out of poverty and a dynamic change agent. She uses a range of adaptive/technological management strategies to solve complex problems and get positive results. In this talk Sylvia addresses the two most difficult topics in America: Race and Racism. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

As you have heard from our speakers, COVID 19 has changed how we communicate, live, work, care and learn in the US. COVID-19 opened our eyes to see health care disparities, unprecedented unemployment, hunger, and the rise of homelessness, and how disproportionately affects Black and Brown people as well as the poor and elderly persons. We know that no one is immune from this deadly disease - COVID-19.
